Home > Vancouver Island News
Want to get ahead on the local happenings before you visit? Or maybe you'd like to stay in touch with what's going on after you leave.
Either way, this page will help keep all our newsworthy dirty laundry
front and centre for all to see. After all, no one reads the news to
hear the good stuff, right?
Oh, that it weren't so.
But we both know full well that anyone who's curious about events on
our little island probably wants the hard goods on what crimes have
occurred recently.
Well, either that or we've finally been hit by The Big One,
the earthquake to end all earthquakes that the West Coast has been expecting for over 400 years now, and you want to know if there's still a
Vancouver Island left to visit before you leave home.
Well don't worry, I can assure you that we're still here. At least as of today.
And in the unlikely event that this website were to be swallowed up by a massive, earth-shaking West Coast tremor, we'll you wouldn't find out about it here anyway, since I'd be ducking and covering like mad.
I can assure you that updating the news feed would be the furthest thing from my mind in that situation.
Oh wait, that's why I've got auto feeds from both Google and Bing just below...so you can still get your precious Vancouver Island news fix even if I'm lying under a pile of rubble along with my computer.
That's also why I arranged for this site to be hosted on servers located
very far away from the specific tectonic plates in question. You know, so it would still be here even if I'm not.
I did it that way on purpose so that if there ever were a
natural disaster of any kind, you could still keep up with our
dirty laundry without being inconvenienced by a massive rescue
effort or anything like that. Pretty smart, eh?
Now, if you're still with me, you deserve to read the news!
There are several ways to get your fix, so choose the one that works best for you....
The easiest way to keep up with the evolution of this website is to bookmark this page, or subscribe to our RSS Feed (see those buttons at the bottom left of this page?).
Once you're here on this page, you'll see both Google and Bing news feeds below. These feeds pull the latest stories about Vancouver Island, gathered from sources around the world.
That way you can get your Vancouver Island news fix with just one click to this page.
To
get you started, here are the top current local news items, compiled
and
served up by Google from more than 4,000 sources around the world (many
of which are nowhere near an earthquake zone by the way).
And if that's not enough for you, Yahoo! often picks up different news stories, so I've included that feed for you as well.

I hope you find this feature helpful. And may I advise that you purchase cancellation insurance before your trip...just in case both news feeds are full of earthquake stories on the day you're set to arrive here.
Just a suggestion.
