Every spring 20,000 whales or more migrate back to the Vancouver Island area. You will be able to see whales all around the island--but the Pacific Rim towns of Ucluelet and Tofino have taken the lead for the spring festival that welcomes back the whales! Tofino and Ucluelet have beautiful beaches, great hiking trails and lush rain forests, so, in addition to the Pacific Rim Whale Festival, you’ll find many different things to do! Here are some of the usual attractions: - Live music
- Whale watching
- Culinary competitions - you won’t be disappointed! (Ever been to a Chowder Chowdown?)
- First Nations cultural workshops
- Interpretive walks
- Inspirational talks
- Fun Fairs for children
- Wickaninnish Inn Gala Dinner & Silent Auction (usually about $100). The auction includes the artwork of over 50 local artists.
