Family Beach Vacations

Family Vacation Ideas
for Vancouver Island BC

Family beach vacations are popular on Vancouver Island BC.

And you will find family vacation ideas to fit every budget - from camping vacations to luxury beach vacations in modern luxury resorts...

Whether you like strolling on the beach with your lover, playing in the sand with your kids, reading quietly with the soothing sounds of the sea in the background, surfing the big waves with your buddies, watching the sun set over the sea, or exploring rugged coast-lines, there is a Vancouver Island beach for you!

Consider Willows Beach if you have young children.

Here are some Vancouver Island beaches that you might want to consider for your next family beach vacation:

  • Vancouver Island Beaches - Here's an overview of quite a few of our island beaches...

  • French Beach - located in French Beach Provincial Park. The beach here is pebbly instead of sandy--nice for long walks. Your vacation here can include secluded camping, hiking beautiful trails, whale watching (killer orca whales or grey whales) from the beach or having a picnic in one of the waterfront picnic areas.

  • Long Beach - is in the Pacific Rim National Park on the west coast of the island. People visiting Long Beach enjoy sunning, surfing, photography, beach watching and storm watching (in winter months).

  • Tofino Resorts - If you prefer a more luxurious vacation, you can stay at one of the lovely family vacation resorts in Tofino. These luxury resorts offer all the comforts of home--and more!

  • Sombrio Beach - This is a large cobble beach on the western coast of Vancouver Island. There are two camping areas on the beach, for those who enjoy camping.

If you would just like to visit for the day, it takes about 10 minutes to walk to the beach from the parking lot--and the trail is easy!

  • Long Beach Lodge Resort - If you enjoy staying in luxury and love the ocean, this just might be the place for you! Not only do you have lovely surroundings, a home baked breakfast buffet and beautiful views of the ocean, you can also learn to surf or go on a fishing charter with Captain Krystal Aikman…

Unlike many family beach vacations in other areas, a beach vacation on Vancouver Island might include hiking along pebbled beaches, basking on powdery white sand or climbing trails through forests that come to meet the sea.

Much of the beauty of this island includes its typically west coast rugged shoreline.

For the hikers and surfers in the crowd, the West Coast provides the most challenging hikes and beaches with big waves.

Sandy Beach Vacations

However, if you enjoy sandy beaches and swimming, there are a few beaches that are just perfect. Consider Miracle Beach or Qualicum Beach.

Both are great for swimming, and they have different recreational activities for all members of the family, nearby.

If you enjoy calmer waters and white sandy beaches, look on the East Coast for your family beach vacation.

  • Miracle Beach - located in Miracle Beach Provincial Park, near Campbell River on the east coast of the island. This is a huge beach with lots of sand, and you can look across the water and see lots of boats--and the mountains of mainland British Columbia. A magnificent view!
  • Hornby Island British Columbia - Hornby Island is a great getaway for a family vacation. You’ll find friendly people and beaches, hiking trails, kayaking, diving, fishing charters, and even an outdoor education center that the kids will love…

  • Willows Beach - Just a few minutes from Victoria, BC, this lovely white sand beach is perfect for young children. The waters are shallow and protected. There is a great view of Mount Baker and Discovery Island. And there is even a shaded playground right next to the beach…

  • Qualicum Beach BC - is on the east side of the island, and the beach is in a more populated area.

If you like to be closer to amenities, you might consider this beach area. The beach has a paved walking trail, and the downtown area has quaint shops that are fun to visit...

  • All Inclusive Beach Vacations - If you are thinking that Vancouver Island vacations are just for campers and hikers, think again. You can stay in a luxurious resort on the island—with everything you can imagine—provided for you…

Family beach vacations on Vancouver Island are fun--no matter how you plan to spend them.

Just do your homework first, so that you know what the beach will be like--before you get there.

And, when you get here, you will NOT be disappointed!
